Peri-Implantitis Treatment

As more implants are placed, we are finding more implants with inflammation and infection causing bone loss, and eventually loss of the implant.  When inflammation and bone loss are found around an implant, an Nd-Yag laser (MVP-7) can be used to selectively remove the diseased tissue around the implant, destroy the bacteria causing the infection, and create an environment around the implant that allows for healing and even regeneration of the lost bone.  This treatment is called the Laser Assisted Peri-Implantitis Protocol (LAPIP®).  Implants that were once thought to have a hopeless prognosis can now be saved with no cutting of the gums, no sutures, and minimal post-operative discomfort.
